The schools big birthday week!

Hello,

This week has been such a lovely week. We started off our week with the schools 50th birthday! We made crowns, sang happy birthday, played musical statues, ate a special lunch and had cake in the afternoon. It was delicious!

In maths this week we have been finding 1 more and 1 less (up to 20). We have used resources, bead strings and number lines. We have also learnt how to play dominoes.

We have been scientists as well,  helping The Three Little Pigs to find a good material to fix their roof. They wrote us a letter and sent a photo of their broken roof. They needed a waterproof roof and we tested some different materials; felt, tissue paper, cling film and foil. We found out that cling film and foil were best, felt absorbed the water and the tissue paper got a hole in it!

For the first time this term we made our way down to woodlands. This was so much fun, we played in the muddy kitchen, made dens and houses for the pigs and spotted signs of autumn.

Today has been a great day as we got to bring in a toy from home for our treat. We also had a skipping workshop where we got to skip with a long rope and practised different skills independently. "Skipping backwards was the best!" "I couldn't do it at the beginning, but I kept going and I did it!"

Next Week:
Year One cake sale on Friday - please bring some cake donations (home made or shop bought, we don't mind!)
Disco is on Friday from 5-6:30

Don't Forget:
Please book and appointment for the 'Meet the Teacher' parents evenings on Wednesday 18th October and Thursday 19th October.

We hope you have a lovely weekend!
