Our Sharing Assembly Week!

Hello,

What a week!

Firstly, what an amazing sharing assembly. We were all very happy that so many of you could make it, and we wanted to do it all again afterwards! Because of our fantastic performance we received 2 marbles from Mrs Carey and then Mrs Byrne gave us another one! It was a very exciting morning!!

We also found out today that the money we raised for wearing colourful clothes a few weeks ago during cultural week, has been spent on building a brand new toilet block for a school in Tanzania. We received a big thank you and we were so pleased that we could help.

We have worked hard this week in English looking at poems. Did you know there are 5 verses of the poem 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'? We learnt some of it in groups and looked at rhyming words. We also read the book 'How to catch a star' and we did some creative writing on how we would catch a star. There were some great suggestions: flying cars, or flying chips (when you ate one you could fly!) a winch, a fishing rod, trampolines, ladders and climbing towers or buildings.

In English we also looked at using some adjectives. We know that these are describing words. Instead of saying 'I saw a slug' you could say 'I saw a sticky, slimy slug'.

This week in topic we have looked at the artist Van Gogh. We read a story about Katie Morag jumping into his picture Starry Night. We also had a look at some of his other pieces of art and wrote about them. We all saw something slightly different and thought about how Van Gogh might have felt when he painted them.

This week our learning owl Plop has gone home with Cai. Cai has persevered with his writing and worked independently to do some amazing work - well done Cai!
The star award went to Eliana who is a very caring friend and a great role model - well done Eliana.

Thank you all for your generous donations for the Christmas bazar, we really appreciate it and we hope to see you there tomorrow from 11am-1:30pm. If you would like to purchase your childs' decoration, it is £1.50.

We hope you have a lovely weekend,

Team Oak!
